Georgie Turns 22

Georgie Turns 22

22 Years Ago Today

My son Georgie turned 22 today. Below is one of my favorite pictures of Lil' George and his dad...he was all but 10 days old when we made the road trip home from Charleston, SC to Buckhorn, PA to show him off to the family.

"Hallelujah"

I loved this version of "Hallelujah" that Matthew Schuler sang on The Voice last season.

Stanley Cup Playoffs 2014

HOW SWEET IT WAS! Yes, the NY Rangers not only knocked the Philadelphia Flyers out of the playoffs but they also beat the Pittsburgh Penguins last night to move forward to the third round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.  Go Rangers!

West Chester University - Georgie's Graduation

May 10, 2014 - Well my son did it...he's officially a college graduate. He got his BA in Sociology.  The forecast called for rain/thunderstorms all day. I said a little prayer to my mom (who I know was there watching) to help us out with the weather and it ended up sunny and HOT!  Thank you mom!  Below are some pics....

Wildwood State Park - Mother's Day 2014

It was way too nice to sit around the house on Mother's Day so I took the kids over to Wildwood State Park for a nice 2+ hour walk.  I don't think they will be going to the park with me again any time soon! LOL.....

Remembering Mom...

May 3rd marked the 4 year anniversary of my mother's passing.  Each year on the anniversary of her passing me and my little girl set free balloons out over the Susquehanna River in her memory. I buy three balloons...one for the anniversary of her passing, one for Mother's Day and one for her birthday (May 17th).

Katie's A/T Fundraiser (Ataxia telangiectasia)

This is Katie Minium and she has Ataxia Telangiectasia

Ataxia telangiectasia (A-T) is a primary immunodeficiency disease that affects a number of different organs in the body. An immunodeficiency disease is one that causes the immune system to break down, making the body susceptible to diseases. It is a rare, recessive genetic disorder of childhood that occurs in between 1 out of 40,000 and 1 out of 100,000 persons worldwide. The ailment is progressive. Patients with A-T are frequently wheelchair-bound by their teens, and the disease is generally fatal to patients by the time they reach their twenties.

All That's Green

If Gracie has a reason to get dressed up for something she's going to do it and go all out! I believe during the month of March Gracie's school (4th grade - West Creek Hills Elementary) celebrated a number of crazy days (Wacky Hair Day, Crazy Hat Day, Mismatch Day, Green Day etc...).  Above is a pic of Gracie dressing up for what I believe was "Green Day".

We did manage to hit the St. Paddy's Day Parade this year (it was cancelled last year due to weather). This year it was sunny, but windy, and they had the parade on March 22nd - it wasn't quite the same since St. Paddy's day had come and gone already but we had a good time anyway (and hit McDonald's on the way home for one last Shamrock Shake)! I did manage to make the traditional corned beef/cabbage on St. Patrick's Day. Sadly, St. Patrick's Day is nothing like it was when I was a kid when I was living back on Long Island.  I have such great memories of the Rocky Point parade and just having a blast with friends....shoot you would think it was Christmas the way they celebrate St. Patrick's Day back home on Long Island....LOL.

Hershey Suites - March 2014

During a silent auction (at work back in December) I won a weekend stay at Hershey Suites.  So come mid-March I decided it was time to get away from the house for a few days and me and the kids (and their friend Bailey) headed to Hershey for the weekend. We didn't do too much of anything. It was a little get away from home considering we've been cooped up in the house due to the crappy winter we've been having. The kids got to enjoy the pool, I vegged and watch some movies and we managed to make our way over to Chocolate World and the kids got to make their own chocolate bars. All in all, it was a nice little get away for a few short days.

Shamrock Shake Time!

Shamrock Shakes remind me of my mom...SHE LOVED THEM.  No, I'm not a big Shamrock Shake fan but my kids love them!  So it has become a tradition for us to stop at McDonald's at least THREE times during the month of March for Shamrock Shakes.
